Documents for DBS check

ds (17) needs a DBS check for casual employment at his school. He presented his passport and birth certificate no problem but the third document showing address - either his NI number letter or confirmation of opening his building society account - have both been rejected as too old. His account only issues annual statements so this doesn't fall within the required 3 month period. He now has a printout copy of the last statement from Sept 2014, dated today by the bank but I've a feeling this too will not be accepted as I sometimes process similar for work and probably wouldn't do so. What have others done with paperless accounts ? Any ideas as to what else we could produce? Even if we applied for a provisional driving licence would that have his address if no paper part and how long might it take ?

You can print bank statements
They have to be within 3 months
If the bank have dated and stamped the statement then that should be accepted

Thanks . He'll try again with that tomorrow. Difficult when they are young as much less of a paper trail.

Any letter where your Ds is stated for child benefit will do, also they should be able to take a letter from his principal/headteacher confirming his identity.

No child benefit letter. Tbh I would have thought the ni letter would have been ok , after all you only get it issued once so would be older than a year.

Driving Licences have your address on them.

Isn't it ridiculous? Your DS is getting this disclosure done for a job in his own school, where presumably he is already to the staff. The only point of the ID documents to support a DBS application is to confirm a person's identity, to support their claim to be who they say they are. The school already knows him and where he lives, so don't actually need to ID him, but the DBS can't be processed unless the prescribed ID has been presented!
