We want to take my DSD on holiday to Florida in October but its her first year in 6th Form College, would you take your DD out of College for a holiday and will she be able to catch up?

Honestly yeah she'll be fine, it'll be a week or two weeks of work. Just the the tutor your going for a family event and ask for catch up work, even ask one of her friends to tape the lessons on an iPhone which is what my sisters kids now do for their friends if they are missing a class. It's gonna be a short period of time she will miss and to be honest won't impact on her college life. The only thing that would stop me taking her would be if she did not know anyone at the college at all, though by October they will probably already have new established friendship groups. My only worry would be if she didn't immediately make friends and going on holiday set her back, but work wise I wouldn't worry it's not a long period of time and she can always follow the text book for those missing weeks

Don't most sixth forms work to.the school calender rather than the university calender and therefore still have a half term..?

Not sure what she's studying but I wouldn't take her out. The transition post GCSE can come as a bit of a shock to.the system due to the need to work much more independently. I wouldn't want to disrupt that so early on.

I think there will be a half term in October. But I wouldn't be taking them out of school during A levels.

I wouldn't. The first term is a steep learning curve and we also have progress tests immediately after half term. I've been a year 12 tutor this year and there's so much going on in that first term that my form looked shell-shocked all the way to December!

I wouldn't do it. They do have attendance monitored but in any case a week's lessons is a lot to miss. They also have a lot of internal exams around half term.
