11 year old hugging boys- advice please

Hi
My just turned 11 year old has got herself a boyfriend
She has an Instagram account (which i have access to) and has just updated her profile with lots of love him 4ever comments

For the last year loads of girls and boys in her school year have suddenly been 'going out' and in love4ever

Because she starts at secondary school in sept I have been giving her more freedom and allowing her to go into town with girl friends
She has been meeting up with her boyfriend and was spotted hugging him by one of my friends as he drove past

Should I be concerned - is this what 11 year old girls do now .... Not sure if they have even thought about kissing

Gawd 11 years old and Im worrying

I know you may be worried about what else they might get up to but really what's wrong with them hugging? Does she not eg hug her best friends? So why not with him? I may be naive but at that age would be surprised if it was anything more than that (or at worst a quick kiss to try it out). If she is doing it in public then not a problem. If going up to a bedroom that would be different!

But we aren't at that stage yet (dd is 10) so I might feel differently if I was!

Honestly at that age it's all very innocent, not really a "relationship" at all. The idea of having a boyfriend is mainly just to say to their friends that they are "going out" with someone and to show off, it'll probably fizzle out by the time she starts secondary school, if not well before then. As previous poster said, the worst thing that'll happen will be a quick peck on the lips.

It's tough to watch them growing up, OP, but wait until she gets into her teens. A whole different ball game altogether
