Skills I have developed as a parent, some of them a bit odd

DD is 17 & has been through many stages, hobbies and pastimes, some of the skills I have picked up include:

Dinghy sailing & launching & unfortunately Dinghy repair & maintenance

I always made soft furnishings but now I can make full circle skirts almost without thought, stick crystals, sequins and motifs just about anywhere!! Using all sorts of fabrics including georgette & lycra

My 8 times table is amazing!

I read sheet music enough to follow a tune, cut & alter it sensibly for a singer and judge the range of the singer needed to sing a piece.

I can cut, edit & mix tracks

I can edit video and add music so it looks good

I can almost style afro hair!! (less successfully than most other stuff)

& now I need to learn to be a driving instructor

So what 'odd' skills, have you picked up?

Great idea for a thread.

Apply stage make up, wigs, sock glue, gaffer tape and fake tan like a pro (DD is a dancer)

Erect a lighting rig and help with a sound check.

Facebook stalk my children un-detected - I know this will raise a SIOB among MNers.

Produce super white whites in line with military dress standards (CCF)

I can do a nifty ballet bun and I'm a dab hand at sewing on ribbons (and taking them back off again) and can fix/change taps on tap shoes

I can tie a karate belt

I can hold conversations about steam locomotives, premier league football and Minecraft

I know far more about the Kardashians than I ever wanted to Hmm

I don't have FB but suspect I wouldn't want to stalk my DDs Grin

Still waiting for my 'sewing on' badge from Scouts.

I now have highly developed justification skills based on what film/game censors really mean when said film/games all have different kinds of bad.

Knives, guns anyone. I can listen for minutes hours without my eyes glazing over.

Endless Ocean - expert Wii diver

Hiding vegetables in food - blitz them to death, then add tomato puree.

Wow, I didn't know I was so clever LOL.
