"cool" first bras!

Hi I am in the same situation my DD is due for her bra. She is too shy to go shopping for it herself. Do you all have any tips? I feel out of the loop of what is "IN". I don't want to buy her something terribly frumpy that she is embarrassed to wear it in the changing room but also don't want to go to racy ( she is only 10!!)
Does anyone have any tips of where and what to get? Or what is popular? Also how much should i be paying? I have seen some for around £30 which i think seems an awful lot!!
thanks in advance!!

DD got hers in Primark, just the simple 'tee-shirt' style seems to be popular. I wouldn't spend too much yet, as they are all growing so fast.

Maybe pick a couple from Primark for her and see how they fit/how she likes them.

I've told Dd that when she finally stops growing, I'll invest in the decent type for her. This of course presupposes that your Dd doesn't yet need the support of a really good, proper fitted bra.

What size are you looking for?

What is her measurement under the bust (actual measurement, not adding 4-5 inches) and over the bust leaning forward?

Debenhams have a pretty good range of smaller bras, but the smallest back size that is easy to find (there or anywhere else) is 28 which may be too large for many younger teens.

Debenhams first bras and crop tops here

I agree with Primark, depending on her bust size you may reconsider buying Crop Tops to start with as they are more comfortable and less grown up if she is still maturing.

Either way Primark is the way to go, or even New Look although that is slightly more pricy.

My daughter ( 12 ) started off with ones from BHS and has moved over to ones with molded cups from New Look as they cover up everything without being too padded

Dd just got some from newlook

£8 for a pack of 2

I think they come up pretty small on the band though

Dd got hers from M&S. Started out with crop tops, then moved onto their teen 'angel' range. I struggled to find any in primark or new look that weren't underwired, but this was a couple of years ago

Teapot74 · 23/03/2015 09:25

We've just moved to the angel T shirt bras from M&S and they are really lovely. Don't know where in the world you live but the M&S in blue water has changing rooms with iPads in them to guide you through the measuring procedure. V good. HTH.

JustDanceAddict · 23/03/2015 13:31

Cropped tops are good if only starting to develop. My daughter wore them for a good year until we graduated to the Angel range. Get the slightly padded. Much nicer on, believe me!!

PingPongBat · 23/03/2015 17:04

Another vote for the Angel bras from M&S, we tried all sorts before DD realised that these were actually the most comfortable
