My 13 year old dd wants to get her belly button pierced. I am not sure what to do.

Just to say my dd 13 nearly 14 had been asking for months constantly and I repeatedly said no. She does a lot of sports and dancing, and I caught sight of her one day walking towards me and I thought to myself what an amazing figure she had, I completely changed my mind and let her have it done, if she doesn't want it later in life, you would barely know. It's not like a tattoo.

It isn't illegal although some local authorities may have bylaws preventing under 16s from the piercing. It can take up to a year to heal & the piercings often catch on clothing.

My teenager got her belly button pierced for her 15th birthday, she's now almost 17. She's a full time dancer and has had no problems with it. She wanted it done because most of her friends were getting theres done and says she feels more body confident now!
the only downside is if you take it out for more than a day it starts to close up and hurts to put back in! but as its usually hidden she's never had a reason to take it out.

if she wants to look like everyone else, why not? But it takes a while to heal so get it done well before summer. And see what school says too.

My d had hers done at 15. Three years on it's never caught on clothes, been pulled in sport or got sore. It did take a little longer to heal than ears but didn't hurt her except tender for first week. It looks pretty and not noticeable if removed.
