Driving Theory Test

I know that you have to have passed the theory test before you are allowed to take the practical driving test, but does anyone know how you book this? DD just received her provisional licence, and a booklet explaining what categories of vehicle she is entitled to drive etc, but no mention made of the theory test anywhere.

You book it on-line & need your driving licence number to do it, I think it is through the Driving Standards Agency, it costs £25 to take.

Thanks. Will have a look.

I presume they allocate you to the nearest test centre?

I think it comes up with dates and choices at various test centres. DD never chose the nearest, but the one that had the most convenient time/date and easiest to get to. She waited until she had her first lesson, and instructor gave her a few tips, and advised her book it within the next month.

Make sure it's the official government site & not one that will rip you off with higher fees.

DH is a driving instructor & one of his pupils got scammed for a non-existent test.
