i dont think its a very big age gap between the older boy/younger girl. would think it was a bit odd the other way round but not actually worry about it (however my kids arent that age yet so maybe better asking me in 10 years)

No My niece is 15... 17 yr old boys want sex

Yes a boy is immature still @ 15, and girls are more mature, so a 17yr old girl and a 15yr old boy wouldn't (IMO) be suitable either.

of course I could be totally wrong

binker · 11/10/2006 15:35

I think so,though haven't got a daughter that age. At 17 I was going out with a 27 yr old !
If he is a nice boy, then it really isn't much of a difference in age, plus boys are less mature than girls,so they should equal out

I would, most teenage boys want sex. I started going out with dh when I was 15 and he was 21, which looking back is a big gap but he was a very young 21. We've been together 20 years now
Many 15 year old girls are more mature than 17 year old boys.

gag @ 13yr old guys wanting sex!!

firsttimemama · 11/10/2006 15:55

I don't think that's a bad age gap at all -could be alot worse! I would like to meet the boy though and encourage her to bring him home and do some of their courting at our house.

CreepyCrawlyCarmenere · 11/10/2006 15:58

I met a lovely 25 yr old bloke the other day who had a ten yr old ds

mell2 · 11/10/2006 15:58

I might be naive here but i really hope most 13yr boys don't want sex.

themoon666 · 11/10/2006 16:01

Well... My DD went off to live with a 29 year old man when she was only 17. She said boys her own age were immature wankers. Shame she hadn't noticed the 29 year old was wanker too, just better and more experienced at hiding his wankerdom.

MellowMonsta · 11/10/2006 16:06

I am not sure if I would myself but thankfully I have boys but for what it is worth, I went out with a 17 year old when I was 15 and it was fine.
My mum was very sensible about it when I think back as she told me that as my periods were so painful I might want to think about going on the pill to help them. I also had this boyfriend at the time so I think she was probably worrying about us sleeping together.

iota · 11/10/2006 16:09

I was dating a 20 yr old when I was 15

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 11/10/2006 16:11

i was 15 dating a 13 yr old at one point, but he was an old 13 and i was a young 15! we lasted just over year!

hauntymandy · 11/10/2006 16:13

sure I went out with older boys. Would hate my daughter to though!! but what choice do we really have?

Yes I would, it's not good trying to stop them. My daughter is 14 and I trust her totally. I was 15 when I had my first serious boyfriend and he was 21!! My parents weren't keen (I can understand why now) and tried everything to stop me from seeing him. I'm now married to him and we've been together for 24 years

NOMurDErousPLUME · 12/10/2006 12:46

Yes I would.

I was going out with an 18 year old when I was 15 (he's now DH!). I was actually far more 'experienced' than he was at the time, so I think it depends on the individuals tbh.

With the other question, grils tend to mature faster than boys, so I'd be wary as to why a 17 yo girl would be interested in a 15 yo in the first place, but at the end of the day it's down to what they are like as individuals. I wouldn't rule it out as a definite 'no'.
