Multi Systemic Therapy - had anyone had experience of this?

Posted this in Chat in error so reposted it here.

I have had many many previous threads regarding my very difficult daughter (16) .At the moment she is staying at her boyfriends house. Social services have suggested that I try MST but my daughter has to be living at home for it to work.

I gave the scenario of dd just walking out of the house and disappearing and asked what they would suggest . They said I would have to follow her.

I'm in 2 minds as to what I should do. I'd love nothing more than for my DD to be back living at home but her aggression , drug taking, getting arrested etc has brought me to my knees.

The therapist that I saw today said it's extremely hard work and things get much much worse before they get better.

Has anyone else tried this therapy and had a good result ?

It's supposed to be very good. It looks at the child's whole life home, school, friends etc. it works with the child and family.
It may get worse to get better but hopefully this will be short term. I feel balancing that with the long term issues you all face at the moment it's worth doing.
It will also give you support which is really important.
I can't begin to understand what you're going through. Please let us know how it goes. Big hug.

Thank you . I can see what the aim of MST is in theory but the only adult participating in it is me. DD isn't in school and refuses to see her father or any of my family , who live miles away anyway. I don't know any of her friends (most of them don't want to see her anyway). Her boyfriend is a very bad influence on her. Oh god ! I wish someone could make the decision for me.
