confused working hours for 17yr olds

does anyone know exactly how many hours 17yr olds in education/traing are allowed to work by law and if they are volunteering are they allowed to lock up in a work place . Where my dd is volunteering the regular paid staff go home at 6pm and my dd goes home at 10pm . week days she starts at 6pm -10pm and weekends 11am til 10pm which i feel is totally wrong and she thinks is perfectly fine i tried ring the CAB and jobcentre their automated services are getting me nowhere so HHHEEELLLPPPP anyone

It says there 8 a day/40 a week

Our 6th form recommended a maximum of 10 hours a week. Above this and grades start to be compromised we were told.

Rascalls3 i think i heard the same thing last year and then i heard something different a couple of weeks ago hence the post and when Madratlady sent me that link it has concerned me more so tomorrow im ringing the college to clarify and i can confront dd`s employer with all the facts. Ive been having problems with dd she erupts everytime i open my mouth so im hoping secretly she will quit and get another job

You do realise your dd will not thank you for ringing her employer.

As a 17 yr old I regularly did these hours in a bar/restaurant, completed my a levels in half the normal time and went to university. Your dd needs to make the decision not mummy squealing for her. If she wants to volunteer these hours that is up to her.

Sorry, is she volunteering, or doing paid work ?
I can't see any company allowing a volunteer to lock up (well, I suppose except places like Community Centres or Church Halls where they are entirely run by volunteers, but not if it's a business.)

she is volunteering in a hangout for 16-20 yr olds county council funded , i didnt get to speak to anyone someone beat me to it seems like i had genuine concerns dd and other youngsters dont lockup anymore and my main worry was safety especially with money on the premises
