term that needs banning, I mean it's blooming easy for a man, slacks and shirt,

but when you're a woman, you either go too much or too little

as you were Grin

Think you are in the wrong topic, but for me it is usually linen type trousers with a cottony type top or t-shirt and a pastel cardi in summer (or you could go long skirt and sandles or shift or wrap dress.

In Winter it's usually plain dark jeans or trousers and a top and cardi or nice plain lambswool jumper

I tend to base it on going out to a nice restaurant for lunch with an elegant aunt not that I have any of those!

Job done!

That would be too casual at my work

Certainly no jeans

Are you talking about work or a social occasion?

You can't go far wrong with a pair of smart black trousers, for either.

smart casual for work and smart casual for social events are very different IMO!

My most hated phrase, lol! Strikes fear into me when it's a dress code!
