term that needs banning, I mean it's blooming easy for a man, slacks and shirt,

but when you're a woman, you either go too much or too little

Think you are in the wrong topic, but for me it is usually linen type trousers with a cottony type top or t-shirt and a pastel cardi in summer (or you could go long skirt and sandles or shift or wrap dress.

In Winter it's usually plain dark jeans or trousers and a top and cardi or nice plain lambswool jumper

I tend to base it on going out to a nice restaurant for lunch with an elegant aunt not that I have any of those!

Job done!

You can't go far wrong with a pair of smart black trousers, for either.
