in real life is boring !!

Daughter is 13 online a lot and sees real life as boring and won't socialize . feel like she is becoming more distant and introvert. I try to get her out and about but she can't wait to get home and back on Skype with friends. She is clever and funny and smart and chats confidently too them but is quiet as a mouse when a way from it .
I feel like im am nagging her all the time and don't want her sat on backside all day but she is shutting me out more. Is this 13 hormones / should I step back for a while and see what happens .??

I think young teens find meeting friends in the holidays quite tricky.

They are too old for parents to arrange it, but a bit young to have the confidence, and organising skills to arrange it themselves, and if they do, they are often still reliant on a parent taking / fetching them.

That said, mine do all do things other than screens / sitting in room, but then they belong to Scouts who usually have stuff going on.

She sounds very normal to me. Teens can be very quiet introvert when around adults. She is probably chatty and out going when on her own with her friends but you don't see that.
Many of her friends are probably away but they can still Skype do that's maybe what's happening.
Id let her carry on. Chatting online is much better than surfing the internet for hours.
Mine hated scouts etc and still do. They hate organised activities as they feel it's like being in school. I tried to take them to groups but then realised i was flogging a dead horse.

I switch mine off in the fuse box when I think they've had enough, I am a cruel bitch aren't I? From really young I have always put mine out to play in the street with their friends so they don't mind as much but sometimes we do get a flounce or two.

Seems very normal. Online stuff can be quite sociable too (We're all talking on here!)

I think she is experiencing issues with divides with online friends . she doesn't know what to do..
I have seen some chats and she is struggling to know now to cope. (She doesn't know I have seen them ) . she knows some in real life as she says and others are online /distance friends I know who I would make her pick but its getting her to make her own decision.

I worry she is becoming depressed / feel like taking stuff off her rather than encouraging it.
