Is 13 too young to use the tube late at night with his friends?

My son is 13 years old (14 in October). He has arranged with his friends to go to Rainforest Cafe and come back 10.30 at night. He is meeting up with 4 girls (just friends) and his Best Friend at 5pm at one of the girls houses and when they come back he said he will text me to pick him up from the train station.

My husband thinks he is too young to do this but I think that as long as they stay in a group and text us when they are there and when they are leaving he should be fine.

Am I wrong to let him go? It is on half term week. My husband thinks that they should go during the day but they don't want to go during the day. I did suggest it to my son but he said it was a group decision. All the other kids are going so I don't want to make my son look like a baby.

The tube is still busy at that time of night so there will be plenty of people around. 10.30 isn't that late really. I think this is a wonderfully exciting thing for him to do and will help him to learn so much about responsibility and growing up. Make sure you dont end up texting him all evening tho as that would be very uncool. Hope you can talk yr hubby round to allowing him to go, if you stop him going on this wonderful adventure he will never forgive you. Hope he has a great night out and that you two don't fret too much all evening. It's hard work being a parent.

OH has agreed to it - will not be texting him all evening.

We have agreed that he will text me when he arrives and when he is at the station.
