I am one woman who is trying to set up a website to support parents and families who's children go missing regularly and are involved in drugs and alcohol abuse and behaviour issues etc.All ideas will be greatly welcomed as the website is for all you parents out there who need support and to not feel so alone

What a fantastic idea! i'll have a think and get back to you later....good luck

fattieSlapper · 30/08/2006 15:11

Thats a fantastic idea.

maybe you could have a message home board. for those hwo have left home to leave a message for their parents?
they could just post to say they were happy and healthy (or at least alive) the parents wouldn't necessarily be able to communictae directly but they could levae a message?

makemineadouble · 30/08/2006 21:26

maybe a text number? so child missing could forward a message?

makemineadouble · 31/08/2006 07:49

love the meaaege board idea

JunkInMyTrunk · 31/08/2006 08:23

A photo gallery and perhaps a sighting section so that people can sasy if there have been any sightings of missing children.
Plenty of links to counsellors etc for support for the families.

btw love what you're doing and if you ever need any help, I'd love to. I ran away for 2 months when I was 17 and put my family thru hell so I can see both sides of the coin

I am not sure about the picture gallery because it is supposed to be a support site but i will look into it. Thank for all your ideas so far keep them coming. Here is the link if you want to check me out here

There's a free forum/message board site that I've seen used on many sites-not sure if that's of any interest but its here if it is.
That sounds like a great idea and I wish you all the best, am sure we'd all be willing to help in any way we could.

Do you think a photo gallery might be a bit risky? Sorry to be negative - I think a place for kids to leave messages is a good idea - but not everyone who uses a website / internet is a good person, and kids could be vulnerable. You could put up lots of info about agencies that can help - links etc.

SpaceCadet · 31/08/2006 18:54

runkid-i think its a great idea.
message board for parents to post and gain support from.
message board for missing children to post on that they are ok, messages home to parents.
links to support websites.
how to cope section.
bravenet do a free web hosting service

runkid · 31/08/2006 19:20

runkid · 01/09/2006 09:09

Once the site's up and running I'd contact other, established websites that parents of missing children are likely to go to and ask them to link to the new site: I'd write a "press release" describing what the site does and what it's for and include that in the email to encourage other sites to spread the news.

makemineadouble · 01/09/2006 16:14

And how about contacting mumsnet (latest news?)
