Activities needed for a very sporty 13 year old boy with plastered broken wrist!

DS has broken his right wrist (he is right-handed) playing rugby last weekend and will be in plaster for four weeks then he can do no sport for six to eight weeks after that.
Sport is his life and we have all wracked our brains trying to think of something active he can do during this period as he will become very frustrated and make all of our lives hell as a consequence
I would really welcome suggestions anyone may have

Pick up a turbo trainer/ rollers on ebay or an exercise bike and put him and it in the garage

Hiking? Geocaching?

I feel for him. I broke my wrist when I was a sporty 7 year old, loved gymnastics and athletics. I was in plaster for 6 weeks. I remember being very cautious for the first couple of weeks and then for a few weeks after the cast was off as it felt so much more fragile, but the weeks in between I carried on playing chase and British bulldog in the playground. I figured the cast was a bit like wearing armour so I wasn't scared of hurting it again! Grin My mum wasn't impressed with me I can tell you!

Honestly?after a week or so he'll be careering around as usual I bet.

Running /cross country training with a cast on. Cycling after it's off?( well not the stupid down vertical rock face mountain biking, but the sort you expect not to fall off doing). You can provably still play table tennis after a fashion with or without cast.,,
Swimming after cast off must be good too.

I don't really get it, but I know these won't replace rugby ( where breaking yourself in some way seems compulsory )in his affections but they'll help use energy.
