But in the My Story bit, so any of his friend list can see. Then the picture got uploaded by someone to Facebook who is refusing to remove it and now it has 150 comments in it all laughing at him, and promising to re-upload it if it gets deleted.
The picture shows just their naked top halves, her boobs and has been edited so it reads 'Aww yessss' across itConfused
Angry is not the word! How could he be so fucking stupid?! He says she pushed him to do it.
The person who posted it has the profile set to public so everyone can see/comment and when I asked her to take it down, I got a load of abuse. I don't know who this girl is.
I have messages DS's girlfriends mum so she knows, but she hadn't responded.
WTF do I do???
How do I punish him?
Facebook say it doesn't breach it's terms so will not remove it - even though it is a picture of two half naked 15 year olds, showing the girls tits completely!
Help!
I have removed his TV/X Box/Laptop and when I get home, I will take his iPhone. I have also changed his FB password. Is this even the right way to go?Sad

Who owns the copyright of the original snapchat photo? Normally the photographer owns the copyright. I know once photos are put on facebook they gain some copyright, but if the original photographer didnt give permission then they are infringing intellectual copyright.

facebook terms

"Facebook respects the intellectual property rights of others and is committed to helping third parties protect their rights. Our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities prohibits users from posting content that violates another party's intellectual property rights. When we receive a valid notice of IP infringement, we promptly remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content. We also terminate the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.

Rights holders will find information below regarding how to report copyright and other intellectual property infringements by users posting content on our website, and answers to some frequently asked questions regarding our policies. "

Could you get it removed under this angle, although it's wrong they are allowing this girl to misuse facebook the way she is!

unfortunatly i dont think this is a legal issue, more of a harassment, which you can report the pic for, i know lots of family friends and family whos young ones post shirtless selfies on facebook, the fact that he edited out her boobs changes the prospective from indicent to acceptable for posting, but the fact someone else has resposted this for the means of harassment means facebook should remove it under those terms

I think that you're doing the right thing removing all his 'toys' and i don't think that this debarcle reflects badly on you as a parent.

It shows teenage stupidity on his & the girlfriends part and a not very nice streak on the part of the public poster who's now causing the issue.

Can't you trace and/or notify her parents via her facebook page, local school or the phone book? I'd be tempted to try to be honest.

Her breasts haven't been edited out - they are fully visible. Just the wording was edited on.
The picture shows just their naked top halves, her boobs and has been edited so it reads 'Aww yessss' across it

even though it is a picture of two half naked 15 year olds, showing the girls tits completely

OwlCapone · 01/04/2014 16:25

Unbelievable that FB won't remove it but remove breastfeeding photos!

Update:

The school called me first thing, and it has become a child protection issue. They are keeping DS under constant watch in case any of the other kids pick on him and it gets nasty.

The school put me in touch with a certain police officer, and it is now being taken very seriously. The police are visiting us at home later to discuss everything - including underage sex.

DS's headmistress recommended I call the girlfriends school, so I did and spoke to the head mistress there. She said that the girlfriend has posted sexually explicit pictures of herself before Shock and it will now become a child protection issue with them as well. They will call her mother in and deal with it in what way they can.

There were a few more abusive private messages from the posters mates, telling me what a shit mom I am and I should control my DS. The police are also dealing with this. I have changed my settings so I can't be contacted now.

DS is horrified. Good. He should be Hmm

And FB maintain that all of this does not violate their terms!

GertyD · 01/04/2014 18:49

Iammelting - ou can't make profile photos ( or cover pics) private, they are 'owned' by FB & always set to public.

That is not true. Profile pictures can be made private. Cover photos can not.

The sensible thing to do, would be to make sure your cover photo is not of yourself or your fmaily

dozily - differentnameforthis, you can't make your current profile picture private. Yes you can, because mine is.

differentnameforthis · 02/04/2014 07:32

As default when you open an account they will be public. For some, they also default to public when you change them. But it is simply NOT TRUE that they HAVE to be on public display. That only applies for cover photos.

You need to go through the whole profile pictures album & change each picture from public, to only me, friends only etc.
