NASS Festival - suitable for bunch of unaccompanied 16/17 year olds?

DD2 has asked if she can go to the NASS festival with a group of friends, all 16 or 17. Does anyone have any experience of this? Should we let her go?

Just asked the same myself. Hope it's okay - have just bought tickets for DS16....

DD is buying her own ticket!

I think I already posted on one of these. I went years ago when I was 16 and there was lots of drinking! I had an amazing time and no harm done.... But it was pretty crazy!

Thanks Gizmo. DD assures me it will be just like Reading, and I've already said she can go to that. Is she right?

If I'm honest I doubt it'll be as good fun as Reading but that's down to the individual I guess. I'll be honest there were people taking drugs but I would think you could find that at any festival (it was never something I was interested so not sure!) I will always remember what a great time I had and I felt really independent. I never gave my Mum a choice - just came home with a ticket, think it used to only be about £60? Suppose that was almost 10 years ago :-0 ......

She will be fine, and we were lucky as my parents are from Yeovil so said if I wanted to come home they would collect me. Don't worry :-D

My son is going. We are paying for his ticket monthly and we only talking tonight about the tent he will need etc. It's a week before his 16 birthday. I'm nervous about him going but I know he will really enjoy it as he is into skating etc.

I'm sure they'll all be fine. My DD us pretty sensible (though I expect all mums TT think that of their DDs!

Having been to both I'd day Reading should be the one you're more concerned about! NASS is pretty small for a festival and I'd definitely recommend it for a starter festival. Reading is so much bigger so a lot more people about (higher chance of losing friends/bumping into people who have drunk or taken too much). That being said I've never had a problem at either festival (apart from the distinct lack of showers at NASS!) and went to my first festival at 16 with no problems at all. As long as they're relatively sensible and have a good group of friends who won't leave them if they get ill or too drunk then I'd say stop worrying :)

Hello, my DS wanted to go and after some research and hesitation I bought him a ticket - but actually he says he'd rather go somewhere else.... and so I have a ticket to sell. Any recommendations on how to do that ?
