WTF do I get trousers that fit?

DS has just come downstairs complaining that he needs new school trousers. He will only wear slim-fit. He is in age 15 M&S trousers currently and the age 16 look to be the same size on the website.

He is a 30inch waist and 32inch leg and there are no men's slim-fit black work trousers in stock in M&S... He is only 12. Aaaaarrrrggghhhh!

Next do boys black (or grey) slim fit school trousers.

The age 16 is huge... my 6 ft but only 9 stone streak of rope of a son wears them :D

I'm dreading this conversation with DS (13). I think his next pair will be men's trousers from Next. He's nearly 5'9" though.

princessalbert · 26/01/2014 22:38

DS is the same measurements as your DS.

I got m and s age 16. I am sure they were long, not regular too.

Other than that I have bought him some from Burtons.
So slim with long legs is difficult. I am pleased he is in year 11 now, so my school trousers searching days are over.

Tip: I have been buying his jeans from Officers Club. They are on of the few stores stocking 30L (and the L IS long 34" I think. They are a good price too, and wear well.

Burton's. They're great and last for ages. Far better quality than M&S

Thanks everyone!

Anything, so is DS. And size 11 feet now. However, Medusa, my son is not a beanpole - he is at least 9 1/2 stone already and in men's medium sized tops! So the slim-fit is for style rather than not falling down purposes!

Right I am going to try trusty M&S in age 16. If they're no good, I can return them and try some of the other places! I have found some chino trousers in Next school uniform in age 16 which says 176cm tall, so should be long enough, but Burtons didn't seem to have any suitable in 30L atm.

Primarni are great for chinos, and he just got a pair of jeans there too - he is still growing so fast they only seem to last for a few months, so I'm not paying a fortune!

I hadn't thought about taking DS to Primark. He's an awful mix of incredibly fussy but hating shopping so we buy everything from Next!

Thanks for the tip.

MissScatterbrain · 27/01/2014 14:03

Second Primark for long trousers with small waists.

yourlittlesecret · 27/01/2014 15:05

Primark.
I got DS2 aged 15 some for school in slim fit, narrow leg, size 30 waist 34 length. They haven't washed brilliantly but I bought them in September and I will make them last until he leaves in June.

ScentedScandal · 27/01/2014 15:12

Not sure if this is much help, but when my dd wanted slim fit school trousers I could only find jeans types which the school would've rejected. I got school trousers that fitted and were the right length etc and took them in a bit myself to make them slimmer fitting. It wasn't too hard, but I imagine a local seamstress could do it fairly easily if you didnt want to do it.

bigTillyMint · 27/01/2014 15:36

Primark is fab for teens - cheap and cheerful! Plus there is one a 15min walk from our house, so very easy to pop down there in an odd moment/emergency!

Top Man do smart skinny trousers in grey and black starting with a 28" waist in varying leg lengths- they are the ONLY ones acceptable at my DS's school!

honeybeeridiculous · 28/01/2014 20:18

DS has trousers from George at Asda, he has 30" waist and 32" leg, he has grey but they do black, skinny and 'normal'
Cheap as chips so don't mind replacing them during the term

bigTillyMint · 30/01/2014 17:51

Just to update. Got 15-16yrs trousers from M&S. They are about 3" longer than the age 15 ones. And a bit bigger round the waist, but they have the elastic that can be tightened. Phew!

Thanks everyone!
