Mono/Chronic Fatigue

Cousin's daughter (Year 8) is suffering from post viral fatigue. She's not sure what to do to help her. Mono tests have come back negative.

Has anyone been through this? Any suggestions on how to help her recover. She's currently sleeping around 20 hours a day and isn't eating very well though her Dr has suggested that she eats more starchy food.

I had this although I had had mono. it lasted about 2 years then recurred for about 6 months a couple of years later and the second time i lost about 1/3 of my body weight.

Things i found helped/did not help.
Lots of rest. On the days i felt well i would overdo it just for the excitement of being up.
Avoiding paracetamol and alcohol and anything else that taxes the liver. (i was late teens so used to drink occasionally)
Avoiding fatty foods- this was maybe a personal thing but everything made me feel sick. Hence the weight loss. in the end i worked out i could eat fish, apples and not a lot else. anything with dairy, cheese or a dressing made me sick - again i think that might be a liver thing. bananas might be ok but i cannot eat them at the best if times.

vitamin d might help. i found daylight a d daylight simulation bulbs worked in moderation but mostly i just wanted to sleep.

In the two years i was ill i had good days. i want school when i could but fell asleep in class sometimes- they knew i was ill so it was ok.i started uni too and made classes then slept the rest of the time. so life went on but with a lot of sleeping.
When i was v ill initially my friends seduction to visit fir half an hour a day which helped a lot as it kept me up to date and gave me something to look forwards too.

The good news is i got better and lead a fully active life but at the time the tiredness was like nothing i have experienced since even post having twins.
