I really dislike how entitled dd's behaviour is this week.

She is well aware that we are trying to support her with her school work by not giving her chores to do - the only chore being she has to keep her room tidy when asked sporadically (Hoover/dust), pick stuff off the floor.

She's doing the whole strop, life is so unfair etc etc Hmm

I do everything! (Dh too)And sometimes I get so sick of it!

I am going to have to put chores back in for her as I'm so narked at her doing fuck all.

is she doing her school work?

Yes, she manages (with a lot of prompting) to get it done.

But she does get a lot of down time and dancing lessons - way more hours than school work.

How old is she? I imagine you are paying for the dancing lessons? To be honest I have learnt/am learning to pick my battles and I rarely even go in my teenagers bedrooms apart from to put clean clothes on their beds for them to put away throw onto the floordrobe.

It sounds like her attitude is the problem rather than the fact her room isn't tidy? I have a 16 year old DD and I have been way to soft with her and ended up with a huge problem. If I could turn back time I would detach emotionally and just tell her if she is rude/ungrateful/uncivil you will not be paying for her dancing lessons/giving her lifts/pocket money etc etc. Then you have to back it up.

Messy rooms are the teenagers problem really as they have to live in it. Same goes for school work. It's their life they are messing up if they don't do it. Bad behaviour impacts the whole family though, so that is where I would direct my efforts if I were you.

Hope this helps.
