Which basic mobile phone?

DS needs a new phone. He has an old Samsung which is on it's last legs and he wants something similar. It needs to be sim free or unlocked for giff gaff.

He only uses it to text and the odd call. I've never known him use it for internet or anything else (there may be the odd photo).
I'm not sure what the word is but he has a kind of reverse snobbery about phones, despises iphones and the culture of being constantly on the phone now where did he get that from?

He'd be happy with a throw away nokia except that he does like touch screen.
Any suggestions / recommendations please? I'm buying it for Christmas and don't mind up to £100

Have a look at the Huawei range. think you can get still an unlocked one from CPW for around £70. may need to buy a £10 top-up.

Samsung galaxy y.

Cheap and functional. My 17 and 14yr olds have it. Offered ds an upgrade in the summer as saw some good deals but he'd rather have an extra 15/month cash than a better phone!

Also get a 32gb memory card. They use it as an MP3 player a lot .more than anything else.

I think your ds and mine share their reverse phone snobbery!

Samsung galaxy y. my 15yo is happy enough with it. its touch screen if that's what he likes.

My 12yo has a Samsung chat which looks like a blackberry and loves her phone.

Galaxy y it then.
That might also meet his "I just want one the same as my old one" criteria, thanks folks Smile
