Kevin & Perry moment - text book case!!!

My DS14 is currently lying on the sofa moaning like 'Kevin' with his arms hanging off the edge of the sofa. He is grunting, sighing and moaning! "The One Show is rubbish and Jason Donovan needs shooting"

He's had his Xbox taken off him for punching his brother. He is now desperate to get it back.

He has apologised profusely to his brother and me, he has hugged me (in the hope that I back down). It is text book behaviour. "no one cares about him"..."it's not fair"..."he hates me". He's stormed out of the house only to return because it was raining!

It if wasn't so bloody annoying I could laugh!

Record him and put it on YouTube so we can all have a laugh. Having said that I won't be laughing when my DS are that age

Have you ever watched K and P with him? I remember finding a Kevin clip on YouTube once, to cheer myself up when DS1 was being truly awful... He sidled up and watched it with me, then said "I AM a bit like that, aren't I?!" I nearly fell off my chair... And then we had a bit of a giggle, and made friends again. :)

Yes I've shown him and his younger brother (and other clips too - when he washes the car etc) and they both laughed. DS2 who is 10 says his brother is Kevin!

It's been a rough night in our house tonight but it needs to be done!

Tomorrow the Xbox will be returned. For now it is quiet as they are both in bed!

Tbh he is right. The One Show is shit, and Jason Donovan is a knob.

Me and DH stood and watched our DD have a Kevin moment on Sunday.
Full on arms flapping and nobody understands shouting.
We both shrugged and walked away. That took the wind out of her sails.

And at other times they just press all of our 'wind you up' buttons.

Bloody teenage children, send them off till they are old enough to work and pay rent is what I say.

Another Kevin here. We've watched K&P clips on Youtube and he sees the similarities .

When he does go off on a strop and goes all Kevinny, dh and I butt in with ".. and we're not your real parents" then we all fall about laughing .

Funnily enough, since we pointed it out he seems to have much better self-control .

I showed my eldest the clips at the time they were on tv when he was that age. He rolled his eyes and said they were stupid. And there was NO resemblance.

Then he went to put his school uniform on again to go to bed.

I think that teenagers are so vile because in the wild we would have thrown them out to fend for themselves by now. They aren't designed to live at home with their parents :)

Absolutely agree with you SoupDragon. In the absence of any Quests to send them on, I think we should at least sort out some kind of exchange scheme, since most teens are far nicer to other people than their own parents. When DS1 was at this stage, I tried very hard to swap him for someone else's teen, but just got laughs and raised eyebrows...

Never mind in the wild, as far as I can work out 100+years ago anyone over the age of 13 was in service/working all day in the field or factory/picking pockets/married or at boarding school or in a house that was so big nobody really had to talk to each other and if they did talk to somebody it would be a servant because their parents were at sea/in India/visiting relatives (or was that just a plot device?).

Apparently, whether a child was old enough to work was based on whether the last back molars had come through as birth dates were perhaps less set in stone.

Other people seem to think my teens are lovely. It has to be said, they have some lovely friends between them - an exchange is just such a fabulous idea, can't believe it's not been suggested before!

Our teenage boys are frustrated being kept inside, eating too much processed food and not getting enough exercise. In previous centuries they would have been engaged in hard physical labour, or hunting their own food and fighting their enemies........

I can't even remember what sanctions I used to impose on my very own 15 year old 'kevin' before the xbox existed! He flings himself in a heap on his bed if I ask him to do anything at all and asks me if I have any idea how tired he is and it's ok for me as I don't have to do homework - but the hugs I get when he wants something... Priceless

I don’t remember this, but my mother tells me that when I was 15 and I was not getting on with my father, my father spent a day out with my best friend, and I spent a day out with her father. We both thought the other father was really nice!
