My 17 year old hates his job and wants to quit ( he is at college in the dday) I dont want him to leave as I am a single mum and cant afford to give him any money. I dont think he should leave as we all hate our jobs at some point. Should I just let him do what he wants.. feeling sad :-(

I told my DS that while he is in education he doesn't have to pay any keep to us but if he chooses to leave he will need to pay us a portion of his income. That made him decide to stay on at college (so far)

Sorry misunderstood op and thought it was college he wanted to leave. Would he listen if you told him to find another job first?

Jellykat · 03/11/2013 21:03

I always tell DS1 not to leave a job before finding another one!

You know you can get Child tax credit if he's in full time education, could you qualify?

I wonder, is there a particular module within that he enjoys, and can upgrade in qualification wise (and therefore specialize in)?

Well then tell him that's the deal.

Three options here:

Keep his job, and keep up social life.
Get a new job, and keep up social life.
Quit work, and lose social life.

Let him choose which option... He's old enough.
