My DD 15 has got a Saturday job !!!! I'm overwhelmingly proud. I don't think we're totally out of the woods re bad behaviour (police involved, doors kicked off hinges)yet but this has got to be a massive step forward

Brilliant!

flow4 · 23/08/2013 08:51

That's great Doin. :) Fingers crossed this is a turning point to her, and you!

Doinmummy · 23/08/2013 09:09

Thankyou. Xx lets hope so. We've not had a good 6 weeks hols. We have a counsellor coming every week from Family Solutions. I think she's very good, but DD so far has refused to speak when she comes round. Still, at least she actually sat there and listened.

How's things with you ? X

Me? Pretty good thanks. DS seems to be growing up. No violence, no m-cat, volunteering, help with a house move, passed his first year at college and back to the second next week, no more than average teenage bolshiness... :)

Last summer was so utterly, utterly appalling that I couldn't have imagined there was any hope. But there was. :)

chocoluvva · 23/08/2013 16:26

That's great. Hopefully she'll be very proud of herself. She'll get a lot of respect from her peers and other adults.

I think it's very good to have something out of school and not based on friendships.

Doinmummy · 24/08/2013 07:40

Flow I'm so pleased for you. And we'll done to your DS for such a fab effort on his part.

I think (hope) this job will be a turning point. I agree Choco it will boost her self esteem and give her a big responsibility ( handling money, dealing with the public etc) .

Some of her mates have jobs too and it was so funny listening to them all chat about demanding bosses, stroppy customers and having to be on their feet all day Grin

I think we all deserve big bunches of flowers for hanging on in there! Grin Seriously, quite a few of our kids seem desperate to grow up... When they finally do get some responsibility, they often seem to rise to the challenge. I really hope it works out for you DD, doin. :)

We certainly do Flow ! For the last couple of days DD has been lovely , actually she seems to have changed since the last counselling session, so maybe she's had a think about what we talked about.(even though she didn't actually speak, just listened)

I came home from hospital last night to find she's done all the washing! And today she's looked after me beautifully, lots of cups of tea and tucking me up on the sofa with a blanket !

Like you say , normal teenage bolshiness I can cope with .

Doinmummy - I don't know the history, but I am so happy for you. Long may it last. I have never heard of Family Solutions, but glad that you have turned a corner.
