DD completed her Duke of Edinburgh Gold hike in last weekends heat!

Which did beat the previous practice where the drowned in the continual rain!

I am very proud of her. For once they forget about looks and happily wear Dad's baggy shirts, SPF30, boots, hat, no make-up etc.

They made it in good time without getting lost (some teams took 4 hours longer on Sat poor things) and now looking forward to starting Silver.

Anyone else doing these awards now?

Anyones school do adventurous Gold Service Expeditions?

DD's Golds this year are going for a month to Venuzuela, next year it's Tanzania so wonder where they will think up when it's her turn? (NB, they spend a year as a group fundraising for the costs, school disco's, Non-uniform days etc).
