I would say that no, just over a year up to two years difference, is not a big age gap.

Depends when exactly the person is born.
September 1997 would only be a 13 month gap whereas August 1998 would be a two year gap.
Also sept 1997 would mean nearly 16 whereas August 1998 would be nearly 15. Big difference.
