what is 'smart casual' for a 15 yr old girl

DD has her work experience soon and the dress is smart casual we were a bit not a clue she usually wears skinny jeans and those coloured hoodies they all wear, help ?

In would say it varies depending on the business, do you/ your daughter see the people employed there? I would aim for similar to that.
If not, a quick phone call to the person named as a point of contact?

it is a child care setting I am guess as long as she is clean and tidy then it will be ok

Yes I think that would be ok. She could always double check after the first day if she feels confident enough to ask? She will be able to get a feel for if he has the right sort of thing on by seeing the staff too. Eg if she wears jeans and staff wear black trousers or vice versa.

childcare? I'd go for trousers (not jeans) and a well fitting (not baggy) polo shirt. With a cardigan (not hoody).

absolutly not she wants to make a good impression and we had no idea what smart casual was I am not sure why you were so rude about a simple thread about clothes,

she wears full uniform to school and trousers

in fact she is wearing her school trousers 1 of the days anyway she has an exam in the middle of the morning to go too, (as you do [grin)

I would go for leggings and a casual stretchy dress with ballerina shoes- mainly for comfort when playing with the children

Most schools round here have a "smart casual" dresscode unless they are strict uniform, and it's a usual phrase used for 'nicer' pubs and clubs who don't allow jeans or trainers, as well as workplace wear, so it honestly didn't occur to me that anybody wouldn't know what that means and I thought you were objecting to the dresscode rather than wondering what it is. I guess it must be a regional thing - around here it's a VERY common phrase to describe a type of clothing. Sorry.

Hi, I work in a nursery. Our uniform is black trousers and a navy polo shirt with flat shoes, e.g black dolly shoes or black plimsoll type shoes. (nothing opened toed)
Any other nurseries I have been to, their staff wear pretty much the same just with different coloured polo shirts.

Black trousers, plain top/polo shirt/shirt and black shoes are normally the sort of things any one on placement/ bank staff/ agency workers wear

p.s At my place of work, the only jewellery we are allowed to wear are, watches, rings and stud earrings. Any other body piercings that are on show, have to have a plaster covering them. (I know she's only young but want to cover all grounds) :)
