Wakestock

Would you allow your 15yr old DD (just left school, 16 in Aug) to go Wakestock (a music festival) with a group of friends? It is for a weekend, the others and according to DD most of her year are going.

I have decided to go with the MN vote as I am torn as to whether to allow or not.

Well it depends on your DD and her group of friends - if they generally sensible and will keep an eye out for each other then I would be inclined to say yes. DD2 went to her first music festival in the summer after GCSEs and survived. If its a major event then they will be well stewarded and the campsite patrolled by security.

The only possible problem is that she is still 15 and some festivals want under 16s to be accompanied by an adult (on their website Wakestock say under 16s need to be with someone over 25) and so she might have problems with that.

they seem a sensible group but inclined to drink. I said about the age and from what she says its a case of they say it but dont enforce the age too strictly.

My daughter has been going to various festivals every year since she was 15 and has always come home safe and sound and with everything she went with. She says that Wakestock is one of the best. Let her go, she'll have a whale of a time and probably come home with slight sunburn, a bit of a hangover and a whole bunch of new friends.
