DS is nearly 13 and has a chest like this
Over the years it hasn't really caused any problems, his breathing is good and he is happy doing topless stuff- I'm watching him diving ATM.
He's starting a new school in September and I was wondering whether I should prepare him? And what if anything I should do.

Doh! Special Needs

A boyfriend of mine had this too - not a problem for his health of breathing either, and it as never a problem at school as he was only topless for a short time while changing and would just pick a spot facing the wall in the changing room. It might be more noticable if he's going to a school where they go swimming.
If anyone does notice and asks, make sure he can answer the 'what is it?' question without shyness. (If it helps, though unlikely to be a useful tip for a primary age DC yet, my boyfriend's 'dip' was the perfect size to rest my hand in on his chest when we were snuggled).
