DD2 is in process of doing Leaving cert (similar to GSE in UK) but Alevel standard, he is 17 an half. Now not studying, not going to school (19 days skipped according to report from school), left home to live with older brother, just after xmas. Said i should lay off him and he would get on with it, (has'nt). I asked him to come home to study and go back to his brother's on the weekend , but refused. What shall I do? ( BTW, i'm giving child benefit money to fund living with brother)

I think I'd let him get on with his own mistakes.

It's horrible when you can see them making mistakes and making their lives more difficult for themselves, but you can't stop them, isn't it Sligo? :(

You don't actually have any choice but to let him get on with it, do you? I'm assuming you couldn't make him come home if he doesn't want to... I know I certainly couldn't make my DS do anything he didn't want to do.
