Goring on Thames and Teenagers

We are seriously considering moving to Goring, we've seen the primary school and it's lovely. I have absolutely no doubt Goring would be a great place for our son but I wonder about the teenage year? What is Goring like for teenagers?

Don't know Goring very well, but it seems like a sleepy place to me - can't imagine it would be great for teenagers. All depends on what they are like though, obviously. One of my teenagers would be happy with the middle of nowhere.

Quite easy access to Reading on the train, I should think. Probably a bit more going on there?

I was in Goring last week. As I have a relative in the care home there. It's beautiful, I love views of the countryside from the high st. Also had the most delicious sandwich in the bakery next to the bridge.
Great train links to reading/London/Oxford. I really can't think of one negative thing about the place!

Once teenagers settle into school they find a local network of friends too.

As a teacher of teens in the local area (no more info as I don't want to out myself!) all the teenagers I've taught from goring have been delightful . You will spend ALL Friday and Saturday nights picking them up from Reading, Henley and Oxford though until they learn to drive! It's a gorgeous place, v jealous if you end up living there!

I have teenagers and am only a 5 minute drive from Goring in another small village. It depends on your teens really. Reading and Oxford are only a (short) train ride away for cinema and 'town' stuff. There are outdoorsy things to do closer to home if that's more their thing. You will spend lots of time picking up and dropping off, but I usually find its only to and from train stations. Mine are younger teens though, this may change when they get older. There are lots of teenagers in Goring and the surrounding villages I imagine they seem a bit invisible because they are driven around!

I live very close to goring, on the same train line, access to reading is good and also Oxford. I saw a poster for Goring Unplugged the other day which is where local bands all play. The queens head was the pub for teens when I was younger but I don't know what it is like now. Ok so goring is not in the middle of all the action but it is lovely and with the trains it is easy to get around.
