Reading Festival 2013 - veteran help needed!

I am a Festival virgin, never went as a young 'un, no idea how they 'work'!

Basically DD15 is desperate to see Eminem who is headlining at Reading festival in 2013.

Weekend tickets are on sale now - at £200 each. DH is willing to go with her but we are not keen to pay over £400.

Can someone who knows about these things come along and tell me - will there be day tickets on sale later? If so, will we have to sleep on a street for 2 nights beforehand to get one? Also, if Emimem is a headline act, which day would the performance usually be?

Just not sure whether to try and hang on for 2 day tickets (I know I sound very indulgent, but he is her life passion!) or get 2 weekend ones and maybe try and sell them if we are lucky to grab day ones!

Not sure where you are in the country - but demand for Leeds is usually a little lower than Reading. I think you should be able to get a day ticket if you know exactly when they go on sale.

The night he plays will obviously be different for Reading and Leeds! Maybe you can choose when you find which day suits you better.

If you get day passes and plan to drive then you need to get in early and book a day car parking slot.

I saw Eminem and Marylin Manson headline Reading 2001. Now I feel old.

Forgot to say - if you are happy to layout the cash - then I would get the weekend tickets now. They are at 2012 prices, so you should be able to make your money back if you sell them on.

I'd check out their sell-on policy first though - as they were going to clamp down on touting.

Me too Meglet (except it was in Leeds). How can that have been more than a decade ago?

Day tickets will come on sale when they announce the rest of the acts normally March time ... (well it has done every year i've wanted tickets) ... There will also be weekend tickets available then .. BUT please make sure you get them from an official ticket seller .... i know numerous people that have bought fakes without realising .. and were extremely let down when they didn't receive their tickets ... With regards to buying weekend tickets now ... If you have the cash why not ... but Have the organisers of the Leeds/Reading Festival (i think it's festival republic) officially announced Eminem will be headlining one of the days or is just a VERY strong rumour? For example i think for the last 6/7 years it was said to be confirmed that Foo Fighters were headlining and they didn't (well till this year anyway - i think) ... Just be careful when buying your tickets!!

Will she be happy to go with her dad? It is lovely if so, but tbh ds went to those sort of things with just mates. I think he was 16 the first time he went to Rdg though.

Have thought about the accompanying DH as well - DD will only just be 15 when the Festival actually takes place and I think she is too young to go with a mate, as we have never taken her to any festivals at all and she will not know the set-up.

My dh took our dd2 and her friend to Reading this year - we are local, so they just went each day - and all 3 had a great time :-) He is very into music but hadn't been to reading since the early nineties. They did some things together, but mostly did their own thing and reconvened after each band. Obviously it is mostly younger people, but there will be plenty of middle-aged blokes there!

btw, under 16s must be accompanied anyway. dd2 was 14. She tells me she's not going this year, but will go when she's 16 with her friends :-)
