dd's friend (16) did a reverse charge call...

... I accepted thinking something must be wrong if she is asking for a reverse charge call and ... she phoned to ask dd if she'll be out today

Am furious. How rude & cheeky.

Dd apologised but it's not her fault...

Rant over. Thanks for listening :)

Sorry but I laughed, I agree with you that it is so very very rude, but you have to wonder at the thought process she went through to arrive at that great idea.

Some teenagers are so self abosrbed.

I thought reverse charge calls were a rediculous price now, like £3?

Did you tell her off? She has to know this is wrong, because next time it could be an emergency and you won't accept it because she's cried wolf this time.

Mum2Ela, I have no idea BUT I won't be doing it again. Which will mean if it happens again I will worry that I've just ignored a teenager in trouble and feel guilty & get dd to phone her back just to check everything is ok. I think I am my own worse enemy :)

Have you told her mother/ parent? She really should understand that this is not on.

Caligula, I think that is a good point.
When I see her I will speak to her about it althoguh I think dd will speak to her about it first.

my daughter did a few reverse charge calls when she started seniour school in sept and 6 mins of calls cost us £30 so just wait till the phone bill you will be even more furious. One call was 59 seconds and was £10

My ds's friend did this this morning too!I thought the same something may be wrong and as I know his parents well I let him All he wanted was to know what time ds would be at the park!They had spoken about 15 mins earlier!Also he rang me from a mobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!How much will that cost?

I'd ring OFTEL as well and ask them to investigate such high charges.

How do you know she was calling from home? She might have been in a payphone with no money? Or she is banned from using the phone and thought this an ideal way round it!
It's probably just the hare-brained scheme I would come up with when I was that age!

I think the TV adverts have a lot to answer for. They make it look so cool and easy and there are no mention of charges.
i was caught out by this myself dds friend and neighbour was at stage school last summer and I assumed something was wrong but oh no... it was her lunch break and she was bored. Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

Hi there! My sons friends try to reverse call all the time can't find out which one it is though--but my goodness didn't realise it was that much.

Hello! He's 15 nearly 16 and there just 15. But there not very nice lads. We've had trouble with them. He's not allowed to hang out with them but I don't think he dare actually tell them directly. But thats' another topic!

i think it costs them to connect on reverse charge.. they ring you through the reverse charge line and that costs them until it connects to you..

my dd(12) friend done this to me a few days ago,my family were in france and with five children i couldnt hear whom it was so accepted till i realised it was her friend so i told her of and put phone down.i then rang her mother whom told me she was in her bedroom and kept saying sorry,if thats how much it costs i will be seeking for her mother to pay when thy go back to school for the phonecall.
