red37 · 31/03/2006 20:03

could you not have a chat with one of her freinds mum and see what time she lets her dd stay out till

mumeeee · 31/03/2006 23:07

I think 10 is a bit to late for a 14 year old.
DD2 is 16 and she comes in at different times depending what she is doing. She is in by 8.30 if coming home by herself on the bus. My DH or her will pick her up if she is going to be later then that.( He shares this with friends parents. The latest she has ben allowed out till is 10.30 she went with friends to see footlose at the Millenium Centre. All her friends do the same.
She is allowed out on school nights.
DD3 is 14 and she doesn't often go out. If she goes to town with a friendshe has to be in by 6. If she is round at a friends then she is allowed to stay untill 8 but she is either picked up or brought home. She is allowed out later on Drama club and Guide nights as these don't finish untill 9.

When I was 14 I was allowed out till 11pm at weekends.

quanglewangle · 31/03/2006 23:23

I think 10 is about right, at least that was the curfew for my ds when he was 14.
I suppose it will also depend on where you live.

My dd is 14 ,she doesn't really go out at night yet.She goes out for the day with friends and I usually say be back by 5:30 in time for supper at 6.

I also feel 10 is too late at 14.My dd's bedtime is 10pm ,although she does stay up later sometimes if there is no school.

brimfull · 01/04/2006 00:09

When you say she is allowed out,do you know where she is ?

fastasleep · 01/04/2006 00:14

When I was 16 I was married and went out out - so think that 10:30 is a wee bit harsh!!

10 sounds right to me for a 14 year old :)

izzybiz · 01/04/2006 07:28

at that age i had to be in at 9.
at the weekends we had a under 18s club in town, and there was a 10-10pm bus that we all had to get home.
am a bit surprised that these kids arent allowed out at all in the week.

katyp · 01/04/2006 07:52

I obviously had a very sheltered upbringing - no way would I have been allowed "out" in the evening at that age just to hang out - only for a specific thing like trip to cinema or maybe to a youth club disco once in a while. I think it's different in schools here but where I went to school you had at least 3 hours of homework to do every night so going out during the week just wasn't an option....

brimfull · 01/04/2006 13:40

DD has too much homework during the week to go out.All of her friends are in the same boat so none of them go out during the week. She would not be allowed to go out to just hang around in the evening and neither would any of her friends.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.

DS1 is 14 next month and is allowed out until 8.30pm - 9pm on a non-school night

FastasleepTheAprilFool · 01/04/2006 16:52

Oh, I was madly in love... and my mum wasn't at all keen on letting me move out without marrying me off... it meant I was well and truly cut off from my insane parents (YAY!!)

but mainly because I knew I'd found the man of my dreams and why wait? I wanted bbbaaaaabbbiiieees Grin

wedding left a bit to be desired like, my mum after rushing to the registry office to sign the paper so I could get married then decided that on the day it was all up to me so I was in my white dress keeping the dogs covered in mud off the man delivering my flowers etc etc.. (and mum had my hen party while I babysat the kids too!!!) lol
