Grumpy and tired or old enough to take responsibility?

Dd aged 15 has Halloween sleepover today. 4 kids over age 15 & 16 (girls). Dh has work tomorrow at 8am so 11.30 asked them to quieten down. 1.30am just hauled dd out of room 'come here now'! She said she is trying to keep them quiet (I sent her several warning texts from my bed) quiet now but feel mean. Should I have spoke to them all a second time?

Don't worry, part of taking responsility isnt it.

I think it's tough for the one whose house it is, because they might be trying to keep things quiet. I think it might have more impact if you speak to all of them.

Halloween sleepover of 15 year old girls here too :-) And had to tell the 18 year old bloke that thought he was staying as well that no, he wasn't.

I was also stupid enough to agree to a sleepover this week, and was working the next morning. :( I got to sleep at 4am. I was not happy. In fact, I was so cross that I couldn't sleep.

Oh dear flow4 I feel your pain. Luckily I had no work next day but dh did (in the end he slept ok!) not sure why I agree to them! Mega stress! Spoke to dd yesterday and apologised for singling her out to keep noise down, she said she was trying. Spoke to the loudest freind who apologised (we had a laugh about it) :)

Sleepovers are notorious for being exactly the opposite of their name.
Have them at an appropriate time, or in a tent in the garden as a friends of both DD and DS have done. Or decide that your home is unsuitable for them.
teenagers at 1.30am? perfectly normal for them to be chatting and giggling, but loud music and loud TV should be off the menu.

My lot ended up in the room beneath us watching Rugrats in Paris at 2am, lol! They were very quiet by then though, didn't hear them at all.

But yes, argh to the bloody 18 year old. My teenage girls had had a little party, and soon after midnight, I went in to say that it was time for those not staying - this 18 year old (who has finished school and is working so I can't really think of him as a boy any more) and another 17 year old boy - to leave. But we're staying, they said! No, you're not, I smiled.

So they left - the girls walked them to the bus stops - and a bit later came back with the 18 year old again, because he'd waited a while for his bus but it hadn't arrived, and he settled himself back down again! Told him he was taking the piss and that I'd already told him it was time to go, so now please. He went.

My DS went to someone elses house for a mixed sleepover this Halloween. It was nice and peaceful in mine

Mind you he often has a mate stay and they're up till all hours in the morning but have to be quiet once I've gone to bed or I shout and show him up

Boys, who talk to me, whom I know and like and trust, are usually welcome.

Theoretical adults who don't talk to me, and have spent the last hour or two leching over the one drunk 15 year old girl (she was drunk when she arrived ffs) can fuck off.

Great stories and wofflingon you are right its the polar opposite of a sleepover! Silly me! Garden was the preferred location but grass sodden :( only second one I have had won't be encouraging more group ones! I don't mind teema having fun but they are sooooo loud!!
