In the past couple of weeks I have twice seen teenagers dismiss a "shared experience" conversation with what I feel is a rather ill-mannered "That was a very touching story that I will treasure forever" sort of response. These are normally very pleasant young people and it feels off to me.
Is this just a current fad way of expressing themselves?
(For those in more urban areas, was it a fad about five years ago? Teens are in very rural Scotland.)
