Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I have noticed my nearly 19 year old daughter seems to do a lot of the "running" and always going to where the "action" is rather than the action coming to her (though a lot of this might be to do with us limiting her friends at our house, else she would take advantage and we would be over-run!)
She has made a bunch of friends in another town (not too far away really) and often goes to meet them each evening. She's been doing this for a few years now. Only one or two have bothered to come back here. We did have a couple of house parties, so most made it to those, but apart from that she does all the running (including to boyfriends in the past)
She sings and plays the guitar at local venues, which all seem to be in the direction of her friends. But this week she is playing at a venue in completely the opposite direction to where these friends "hang out!" And NOT one of them is bothering to make the (quite short really) journey to come and see her!!
All seems a bit one sided to me
But she seems happy enough (well she doesn't have to pay for the petrol in MY car that she uses..... but that's another story
The only person who does come over this way a lot is her best friend, but that's only because her parents have made it very awkward for her to want to invite friends over anyway.
