She wants to get the top of her her done. She's had her ears done since she was in yr 6.I think she's too young for top of ears but she says it's nothing to do with me.

I've said wait until your older,am I being an unreasonable mum?

It is no more painful than any other piercing and it bleed alot less, let her have it, after the hairdresser has tugged it a few times she will probably take it out anyway.

I would, at 14 i used to pierce my own ears all the time. So it would be far safer and more hygenic to get it done professionally. I don't wear earrings at all now.

I would let her get it done but it's your decision because she's not 16 yet.

quite a mixed response then!

I've just told her to let me think about it for three weeks then we'd talk again.

She says her friends mums have said yes and they all want to get it done together.More pressure then!

Just have a feeling it's not something to decide in a hurry.

laughinglil · 07/03/2006 12:59

wait until she asks for her belly button peirced or her tongue peirced then you'll have trouble... my friends mum wouldnt let her have anything done..she his 18 and she had her nose, tongue, ears belly button, nipple and down below peirced... sorry if I am worrying you!

Will her school allow it? Dsis is 14 and her school have banned them.

prettybird · 07/03/2006 14:21

My dad (a doctor) cut out an article from the BMJ about all sorts of body precing and the awful infections that could result, complete with explicit photographs....... Shock

.... I was only thinking of getting my ears pierced and I was already 17!

Having said thatm my ear lobes are still the only pat of me that is pierced, so maybe it did have an effect! Grin

Thing is if she wants to get it done with her mates I'd be even less keen on letting her because I'd be thinking that this might be a case of peer pressure rather than a genuine desire for the peircing. Just a thought...
