Hi There,

Can anyone give me insight into this type of Insurance.

I have a car owned/insured by me and wanted to add my son (until he passes his test - hopefully in a few months of so)..

Has anyone used this type of insurance and can get me any guidance..

Thank You

Yes, I took out a provisional marmalade policy for three months (I think that' sthe max you can do it for) and it was easy and cheap (£80 a month iirc).

I ended up cancelling the policy after two weeks because my son had only had a couple of lessons and my car was too big and powerful for him to handle confidently. PM were very happy to let me cancel, and refunded the money without any quibbles.

So I can recommend them for a learner driver, but eventually I found a good deal when ds bought his own car with iKube.

I used this for ds when he was learning. He had 3 separate months (cheaper per day than a 3 month block if there is a 3 or 4 day gap between the months) and one of those was on a different car so he had the chance to try a bigger heavier car too. It worked out less expensive than adding him to our policy as well as giving the chance to drive more than one car, though this wouldn't necessarily be true if he had taken longer to pass.
