Aaarrggh, do teens not think?!

DS has some friends round today, all fine, no problem with that. I fed them and they were X-boxing. Then, they decided to go out - Ds NEVER moves from the Xbox usually, so I was a bit surprised!

OMG, they have just come back and they are FILTHY! It's raining here none of them have coats on and they are covered in mud and grass stains.

I've refused to let them into the living room - they are not going anywhere near my lovely cream carpets!!!

They are now in his room, bored witless, I expect!

It's something to do with normal brain development. Teenagers can't think through consequences properly because some relevant bit of their brain hasn't developed yet .

Teens do not think and behave like toddlers, ergo you may treat them like toddlers and send them off to the shower!

Isn't this the kind of healthy outdoor experience we should all be encouraging in our teens?

You are braver than me, I haven't had cream carpets for 15 years.

Teens are not capable of thinking through the consequences of things, they act on impulse NOW. (certainly boys, haven't got as far with dd, but she does look as if she can do a bit of planning and forward thinking).

Mind, it sounds like you didn't plan ahead either, if you put cream carpets in a lovely lounge in a family home
