DD stuck in New York

My dd is on a group college trip to New York and was supposed to be leaving there on Saturday. They are "living" in the airport, and listening to stories about planes "sliding" around on the runways (I have a dreadful fear of flying, so this is not helping).

This is not a plea for a private jet or anything, just the "I'm Scared Stiff and Want My Baby Home" sort of feeling.

aww hugs to you cant blame you for wanting your DD home. She will be fine and will probably look back on it as an adventure.

tillykins · 13/02/2006 18:57

Big hugs
There is NO WAY she will be boarding a plane until they are absolutely sure that everything is totally safe for them to take off

CountessDracula · 13/02/2006 18:59

oh no

I was there the week before last and we were walking around in short sleeves, it was 64 degrees and brilliant sunshine.....

She will be fine as tillykins says this is why they have closed the airports

ThePrisoner · 13/02/2006 19:09

They've already been put on two planes (yesterday) - they sat on one for 4 hours, were taken off, and put on another one for 5 hours before being taken off that one. In the middle of the blizzard. And the airport had been officially closed!

We've had one phone call today (and were cut off) as they'd been given phone cards to call. The airline are not particularly helpful (and yes, I know they must be busy) and their website is next-to-useless.

I'm hoping! I am going to make her sign a legal declaration that she is never going to leave home ever again!

I have to say that the thing she had to tell me about when she rang, which was of utmost importance, was that - thank goodness - all the girls had managed to wash their hair in the public loo washbasins!!

ThePrisoner · 13/02/2006 20:41

At least my dd is somewhere warm (apart from the time spent on an immobile plane). Hope your bil is out now??
