Teen and internet porn

Went to bed last night leaving my 14yo DS on his Xbox (bad move but a certain amount of trust) got up this morning, needed to use the laptop and couldn't find it. My son had it hidden in his room (very very out of character) he asked if he could use it before I did, but was very agitated, when challenged he went ballistic. Of course this set alarm bells ringing, so I looked up the history to find out what had gone on (I'd given him the opportunity to tell me first) and found out he had been on porn websites and webcams, something called chat roulette and others...

Please, how do I handle this? I know this is normal to a degree but to what degree? I'm a single parent and his father is a complete idiot so no help there. I want to handle this correctly, or at least without it becoming a huge issue.

I dearly would appreciate any help and/or advice..

I wouldn't panick too much! Both Ds 1 and 2 were "curious" at that age. At the time I think I made sure the parental controls were always on the computers. I also had a very quick chat about how there is some very nasty stuff on the internet, that I personally find it degrading and didn't want it in my house but that I knew it was natural for them to be curious. I also said that some of the sites are illegal and can be traced back to the house (not sure that's true) and that the images are very unrealistic. Neither of them wanted to add anything to the conversation!

I would much rather they had a copy of Playboy under their beds - there's such nasty stuff out there, which is why perservering with the parental password for another year or so may be the best bet.

Caught my 17 yr old ds "red handed" last week! He was not in his bedroom, so I didn't knock on the door first. He was so embarrassed. The passwords were removed a while back, so I know he looks at them and deletes the history. It's normal curiousity, but I don't like it.

chat roulette is a chat site with webcam.. it randomly connects you to someone else in the world, the most they are going to see there is some middle aged bloke with his bits out .. I think its more the laugh that anything else that anyones uses the site
