Did the most lovely thing this morning with my teenager

Went to wake my 14yr old DD this morning (no school today), and I had bad headache, so I got into bed with her and we had a cuddle.

She fell back asleep and I lay there with her head on my chest, and her arms around me. and I could smell her hair, and listen to her breathing and feel her warmth and it reminded me of when she was just a baby. That same feeling just washed over me and reminded me how much I really, really love her.

She's a normal teenager, and we normally just have quick hugs - and soon she'll be off and out of my life - it was wonderful just to get that feeling again.

Sorry if it sounds soft, but that lovely feelings been with me all day

Awww. Lovely.

NotMostPeople · 20/02/2012 21:48

Lovely.

I've told mine that I can't guarantee that I'll wake up in the morning so she comes to wake me, getting for a cuddle every morning. During the rest of the time she's not very cuddly but between 7 - 7.15 am I have a fab Mother & daughter cuddle - long may it last.

Selks · 20/02/2012 21:48

Aww, what a precious moment. It would be lovely if you could share with your daughter how much it meant to you.

igetcrazytoo · 20/02/2012 21:52

selks, thank you for the idea, I'm just off to nag her into bed - I'LL tell her.

That is lovely.

Had a similar experience at the cinema yesterday with DD (aged 6) who sat on my lap for most of the film and cuddled right in. Reminded me of when she was a baby. I don't get enough of those cuddles anymore!

serotoninbutterfly · 20/02/2012 21:58

I want to go and cuddle my mum now, am not quite a teenager anymore Grin but I love cuddling up to my mum Smile

Bossybritches22 · 25/02/2012 15:49

Bossybritches22 · 26/02/2012 21:21

Funnily enough I had a lovely snuggle with my DD this morning -it was lovely!

noteventhebestdrummer · 26/02/2012 22:37

if it were your DS would you have got the same positive replies?

ChewingGum · 26/02/2012 22:43

i often cuddle up with my ds. he is 15 we may cuddle up in bed and watch a dvd or just eat choc or something and chat.

kangeroo · 27/02/2012 11:06

That's lovely - so important to remember that teens need hugs too sometimes more than little kids - as its sometimes confusing being a teen!

Bossybritches22 · 27/02/2012 22:16

Exactly kangeroo they still have that need to be a child at times, & if they want to I think its lovely too. They grow up so blardy quickly as it is.

noteven I'd like to think that Yes I would say & do the same if I had a DS.....as long as he was Ok with it.

stellsie · 27/02/2012 22:27

How lovely Smile After listening to my almost 14 year old DD just now crying on the phone as her & her boyfriend split up (6 months!), I really want to give her a very long cuddle X

Wetk8 · 22/07/2012 20:28

:-p

SparkyDuchess · 24/07/2012 23:08

I get to do this just now and then with my13 year old DS, and it has the same effect on me, makes me smile all day. Just for a few minutes, I get my funny, clever big boy AND the sweet baby he used to be all wrapped up together :)

NoToHugs · 25/07/2012 14:21

Namechanged Grin

hilariously timed post........

I have just gone right off hugging my very huggy (some might say clingy) 14 year old. We both went to get our hair cut at the local Hairdresses and we both had NITS. I have never had them before and somehow my DC's had managed to get most the way through their childhood without getting them. Sad
So no hugs for me. Thank you very much. Smile

Ahhhh feeling itchy just thinking about it.

Anyway, I am glad you enjoyed your hug.

slipperandpjsmum · 26/07/2012 09:46

noteven our ds still want cuddles sometimes just as much as our dds. I was a little confused by your post?

My ds gets into bed with me sometimes for a cuddle. He is 6'1" but will always be my baby. I too am transported back to those times when he was a tiny baby and am overwhelmed by love and think how very lucky I am.

Jesslovesericthedogx · 26/07/2012 20:48

awwww! i am a teen and some times i feel really down and need a hug! You should tell your daughter how you feel and maybe she will feel that way too! ;)

GetOrfMoiIand · 26/07/2012 20:57

Aww.

DD sat on my lap last week (all 6 feet of her) and we had a really long cuddle. I didn't want to let her go (unfortunately I had to as I got pins and needles).

She is still my baby, she will still be my baby when she is 40odd.
