dd1 is on an endless trail of Bar and Batmitzvahs. We're not Jewish but most of her friends are and this is the year (she had one every weekend in Nov Shock). So far we've managed with an old boden number she's now outgrown, a dress of my sister's we altered, and one from Asos - but it's strapless and apparently she has to do a dance at the next one (don't ask).

We've been trawling MissGuided, Asos, JohnnyB and New Look but nothing yet. Don't want to spend more than £30 ish and have said this is last one I'm buying...but she's asked me to ask you. Oh and of course the "do" is this weekend. (ends at 11pm on a Sunday night.... but don't get me started on that either!)

Will watch with interest.

I think clothes for girls of this age are the most difficult to find - appealing, age appropriate and affordable is almost impossible to locate. It really is an under-served gap in the market.

The only suggestion I have is Monsoon - but that will probably cost more than your budget - unless you can find something on sale.

Slinky.

BeattieBow · 20/02/2012 19:48

I think Oasis looks as though it has lots of little dresses that young teenagers might like here but what do i know I'm an old gimmer

I have no idea though!

sodapops · 20/02/2012 19:50

Dorothy Perkins is good for dresses.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 20/02/2012 19:56

Slinky.
Some of the BooHoo ones are lovely - not looked there before.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 20/02/2012 20:00

Sorry Republic links didn't work on phone but you get the idea...

sodapops · 20/02/2012 20:04

I just remembered Matalan do a few dresses for teenagers and they do next day delivery too.

MaureenMLove · 20/02/2012 20:08

Have you looked at the 'going out' dresses in BHS? Perhaps better to get the page up, then ask DD to have a look! DD wouldn't entertain the idea of BHS, but some of them are not bad.

sodapops · 20/02/2012 20:12

Tammy at BHS

Asda have some teen girls' dresses. I quite like this and this.

sodapops · 20/02/2012 20:33

H&M I have ordered from there for DS1 and delivery was quick, but I know of others who have had a longish wait TBH.

River Island

Bank I bought shoes for DS from here and they were delivered the next day.

Select have never ordered from here so don't have a clue WRT delivery.

My 13yo DD had a formal function to attend last October and needed a dress.

I shocked myself when I actually found something I and she thought was quite lovely in Tammy of all places.

I always swore no child of mine would ever wear the clothes from there but in our desperate hour of need last autumn I relented and took a look.

They have different dresses in now to last autumn obviously but here is a link

What was nice about the Tammy dresses is that they are cut for teens - so fitted better than alot of the ladies dresses.

beachyhead · 20/02/2012 20:43

Why am I stupidly reading out all these websites to dd who is 14! She has now discovered more places to shop!!Wink

nowittynamehere · 21/02/2012 09:40

my dd quite likes oasis and Quiz for clothes now she is 14 some of them are too SHORT or revealing but if you bypass those then you can get some reasonable prices dresses , i hate newlook for young teens its to adult and im a prude Grin

My daughter is 11 but fits an age 9 so is v tricky to find trendy stuff to fit. She likes NewLook (which is not too badly priced as usually got offers on) Although we have not bought from Boohoo this looks trendy and well priced.
River Island now do some great girls clothes too and Topshop womens clothes have some sized 4! however I think is pricey!!
Good luck!
