13 year old travelling alone.

My DD and her friend, who are both 13, want to go on a trip to another city, which is 2 hours away on a train, for a day of shopping.
I have family in the other city, but they do not want to meet up with them. They want an adventure. I'm thinking they are too young and I'm far away if anything goes wrong. We live in a big city, and they go shopping alone quite often. I am imagining all that could go wrong, am I being a killjoy?

I would be un-nerved as well only you know how responsible you dd is, is it in the day time?

Yes, they would be travelling in the day. DD is 13, even the sensible ones are daft at that age.

it isn't the being away from you in town, it is the 2 hours away.
Is there somewhere an hour closer that they can have an adventure?

uneasy ,still, unless they would agree to meet up with family at certain time to check they ok I wouldnt even consider it because if they didnt want to do that they have already planned their trip

I thought no at first, but thinking about it, if your family can bail them out if they did have any pRoblems, they aren't really 2 hours away from a responsible adult, an hour at most. I think I would let them.

Thanks for the advice... I'll probably let them go, but insist a family member meets them towards the end of the day and puts them on the train.
