DD hit me in the face - breaking point

Over something rather trivial my DD hit me in the face. There have been loads of concerning behaviours (ie. anger issues, staying out, parties etc.etc.). I am not the best parent in the world- I have my faults. Tried to talk to her many times - we never resolved. Also tried to get professional help - but because of her age (16 yr) cannot do anything without her consent. I don't seem to have many options left. Is calling the police the only option?

well i did with my violent 14 y o dd!!

she has come through that phae now tho....from dec last year til april/early may this year,was a living hell!!

I'm sorry teapot. Must be horrid for you:(
I don't really have any advice as I don't have teenagers of my own but I do know that members of my family have had to call the police regarding my brother. Sometimes it is the only way to get the message across.

I'm pleased to hear that your DD came through that phase. Was your experience similar? Did you call the police? What was the breakthrough?

Sorry to bombard you with questions. But I need to imporve the situation for herself, myself and the family.

called the police three times,violence aimed at her siblings. arrested and a night in the cells on each occasion. social services were useless. youth offending team were involved and were good,but other stuff happened...a school move,and then the key to it all,a friendship change

dd now wants to be a police officer after chatting to a few whilst under arrest!!Grin

Thank you for your instant reply - it means a lot, ILoveTIFFANY. Maybe we should have involved outside help when problems started, also we may have had to be clear about boundaries etc. However no point of 'what if' at this stage. There are TOO MANY regrets....

What stopped me from other getting involved was that once the ball gets rolling no way back, and as you said that I didn't have 100% trust in social services.
