DD3 has gone out to see a film with a friend for the first ime today. She went off at 1pm to go to her friends house then they will be going off into town will be back about 5.30.
I am pleased she is at last going off to do something with a friend from school, but at the same time feel that I am losing my children. DD1 is at Uni and dd2 often goes out with her friends. I am also feling nervous about her getting back safely although I know thats daft as she goes on the bus to school by herself everyday and is fine. How did you all feel when your youngest started to do this.

My youngest is 14 and rarely wants to do anything by himself but the next one up is 16 and has been at a friend's since yesterday, as he is most weekends. I hate it TBH. My biggest worry though is 4 years time once the little one goes off to uni and I haven't got anyone to talk to/go out with at all (DH works nights/weekends). It's just something we have to get used to- they are all going to go.

I loved it when my 3 dds started getting social lives - it meant we had quiet, non-argumentative evenings! However, it changed a bit when they all got driving licences and cars, and that worried me no end (and obviously still does).

Uni is not the end ... eldest dd is back home and vaguely job-hunting (and being a complete pain!!!) Another dd just started uni, so am enjoying the lack of teenage tantrums from her. Remaining dd is at college, and delights in offering our house as overnight refuge for new friends to save them all bus rides home after an evening out.

I love my children to pieces, but I also look forward to rediscovering what life was like when it was just me and dh. Perhaps we won't like each other any more!
