anyone know much about those hidious ear lobe stretchers? like what size can you go up to and have your 'hole' go back to normal?

13yr old dd has one and is up to a '5' and assures me that this is fine.... but then she would say that wouldn't she?!

I dont know big 5 is but I've heard that under a cm will go back without too much bother. Certainly some of my kids friends used to have them and now appear wearing normal earrings - if there is a change it's not too noticeable.

You're not a shit mother - its wise to pick your battles!

I found this a while back for a friend. There may be light at the end of the ...erm.. tunnel.Blush

{Will the hole shrink back?
The answer to this depends on lots of factors.
Generally though, holes of up to about 6mm or 8mm, and even sometimes as large as 10mm and 12mm, will shrink back down to normal piecing size. (Given enough time)

I do know someone who had stretches of 20mm, which shrunk back to almost nothing. He had very elastic ears.

The factors that affect this are;
How quickly you stretched up... too fast is bad as you can build up scar tissue that might not stretch back down.
How long you rest between each stretch... same reasons as above.
Your skin elasticity... everyone is different.

So, unfortunately, there is no definite answer, everybodys ears react differently to stretching.

Ear stretching is a permanant body modification and as such should be taken seriously. Some Body modders would say if youre already thinking about shrinking your holes, dont bother stretching in the first place. In any case, dont rely on the fact that the holes will disappear.. they may not}

They DO go back.. (prob the only time I'll disagree with Maryz Grin
My DS1 18 stretched his to 8mm (yeah yuk I hated them ) but he used to have to remove them for his p/t job and sometimes forgot to put them straight back in ..by the following morning they would be tighter..

He left them out entirely for a few days and they shrunk soooo quickly. Then he gave up and now has perfectly normal ears. I think he can get a standard earring through but that is it.. and thankfully he has grown out of the desire to have huge ears :D

He did stretch his carefully so had no scarring but they were quite big holes at 8mm, so it was nice to see them disappear!
