Proms & limos?

So, DS and his mates are talking about sharing a limo - apparently about £50 each! Is that about the usual? What do other people do? Do parents mostly pay, or am I being tight in thinking its a hell of a lot? Any other suggestions?

Some of my DS's friends went to the prom in an ice cream van Grin

We did but it wasn't £50, more like £20 I think but there were quite a lot of them in it.

My DS is planning a shopping trolley entrance with his mates Grin. They are really anti all the show offy stuff.

PlanetEarth · 07/03/2011 21:13

Limos here about £20-25 a head, with around 8 I think in one car.

I wonder which of his friends is reckinging on £50 then Hmm probably means tey've seen something with a built in bar...

I like the idea of something alternative, which would normally suit his style, but it may depend on the size of his girlfriend's dress, as she's already been on at least one serious shopping trip!

ds2 just booked a 22 seat limo for nearly £800 Shock

ps he really wanted to go with a mate on a tandem but I thought that wasn't very practical! Grin

sharbie · 08/03/2011 00:18

ds did longboard which is like a big skateboard

fortyplus · 08/03/2011 00:21

That sounds fun. Unfortunately for some reason school won't have prom in the hall so it's at a sports club about 8 miles away

sharbie · 08/03/2011 00:33

ds and his mates took the train and then used their boards etc for the last leg

sharbie · 08/03/2011 00:34

they made the front page of county press too Smile

That'd be fun! Just found out this morning that it's not at the school.... I'd assumed they were going round in a limo picking up people, then taking them to the school, but apparently the prom is "somewhere else". Don't you just love the amount of information you get out of teens!

DS went on the back of a Harley to his (his Dad's - so that was free) and his friend who had passed his tractor license drove his date there in his Dad's gleaming ribbon bedecked tractor!

DD1 (12 and planning ahead) has already said she wants the Harley for hers - in a Prom dress??!! but DD2 (10 and planning even further ahead) reckons a pink Playboy limo.....(such a chav!) Grin

We've been trying to convince DS to drive himself - assuming he passes his test first time round - but I think he'd rather mess about in a limo than have to focus on driving...
