I slept in a bunk bed till I left home, and then every time I went back till I married and got the Spare Room.

Don't borrow money if you can avoid it - there are always bunks on Freecycle. Paint it if its a bit grotty, or let them paint it!

I wouldn't want teens in high sleepers unless they were strong wooden ones!
Ds1 had a metal high sleeper and gave up on it because it squeaked every time he moved and wobbled because of his size (As in age 13 size not weight size lol!). It is fine for 11yr old DS2 so far.

My sister and I were in bunk beds until parents moved house when I was 20. T'was fine.

oh thanks tortoise,
and others of course Grin

so perhaps stick with the bunks, or at least make sure they were sturdy woooden ones.
